President

CEO

David Sharp

David studied geotechnical engineering at The Ohio State University. While a student at OSU, he was offered and accepted a scholarship to Samford University in Birmingham. David graduated from Samford with a degree in business administration.

Soon after graduating, David became interested in applying his background in geotechnical engineering and his degree in business administration to a new course of study in ornamental horticulture, in which he earned state licenses in Landscape Design (LD), Horticulture (SLP) and Ornamental Turf Pest Control (OTPC).

In 1983, David started DSLD Land Management Company, Inc. with a goal of being able to provide residential construction design / build services including pool building and landscaping.
In 2018 David added a Civil, Environmental and Structural Engineering division along with a Commercial Drone division to assist in developing engineering surveys, topographic maps and aerial photography of their projects.  
 
In his spare time David volunteers for several foster care organizations and along with his wife Helen has helped raise 33 foster children.

 

CFO

Mark Richenderfer

Mark has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Villanova University, an MBA in Finance from Drexel University and a Master Certificate in Six Sigma and Lean from Villanova University. Mark is responsible for the finance and accounting group and also works with the management team on strategic planning.

In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and traveling with is family. Mark and his wife, Valerie, reside in Birmingham with their two children.

VP of Engineering

Fred DeLeon, PE, D.GE, PG, CPG

Fred DeLeon has joined the firm as Vice president of Engineering.  He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in geology and civil engineering, as well as juris doctor degree in law.  He is a registered professional engineer and professional geologist in numerous states, as well as a licensed attorney in Alabama.  He holds numerous professional certifications, among those is the ASCE Academy of Geoprofessionals board certification as a Diplomate in Geotechnical Engineering and the American Institute of Professional Geologists certification of professional geologist (C.P.G.).  He has over 30 years of combined geological, engineering, and legal experience.  He will oversee DSLD’s engineering department and provide counsel to the firm.

VP of Construction

Zach Sharp

Zach has grown up learning the family buiness from the ground up. Upon graduating high school, Zach received the Millennial Scholarship from Troy University where he studied biomedical science for two years. After deciding that the family business was where his passion lay, he transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and graduated with a degree in civil engineering. Zach has been studying for several industry wide certificiation exams, which has recently paid off as he became a state licensed landscape designer. Next, Zach looks forward to acquiring the Municipal and Utilities Contractor License.

Austin Tatum

Austin started his career at DSLD as an intern where he was exposed to every facet of the company’s many service offerings. He came on full-time in 2019 after completing his degree and graduating Cum Laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in mechanical engineering. Through his time at DSLD, Austin has also become a state licensed landscape designer, a licensed residential home builder and a licensed general contractor.

Engineer Intern

Jason Ford

Jason manages the collection and processing of all survey information needed for DSLD projects. He holds an associate degree in engineering technology and a Bachelors of Science in civil engineering from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Jason has been in the construction/civil engineering field for 25 years working in surveying, project management and design. He recently relocated to Alabama from northern Illinois.

 

Landscape Designer

Stephen Pyc

Stephen is DSLD’s senior landscape designer. Stephen graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in landscape architecture and has since been designing and providing oversight on landscape projects throughout the southeast. He has proven himself to be a great asset to DSLD’s service-oriented team. His expertise allows him to serve in all facets of the business.

Landscape Designer

Andy Vaughan

Andy is from Auburn, Alabama, and holds a degree in landscape architecture from Mississippi State University. Andy spent the summer of 2020 as an intern with DSLD and is also a licensed landscape designer in the state of Alabama.

CAD Design

George Hall

George is a senior CAD operator for DSLD Land Management where he designs, lays out and completes site plans, easements and permit drawings. He also prepares construction drawings for site, storm, sanitary and water improvements for all residential and commercial projects.

George is a graduate of Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in industrial technology. He enjoys being a father and husband and spends his time away from work enjoying DIY projects.

Information Technology

CAD Associate

Ricky Geiger

Ricky works in our I.T. department and plays an integral role in the design team; he provides topographical maps, site plans and pilots our Mavic Pro 2 Drone. Ricky is also a CAD operator and utilizes drone deploy and civil 3D to integrate information for our landscape designers and engineers.

In Ricky’s free time, he enjoys playing video games and staying active through soccer and going to the gym.

Jakob Hollis

Jakob works in our I.T. department alongside Cole and Ricky, playing an essential role in our design process. Jakob provides topographical data and site plans to our landscape designers and engineers.

Security Officer and Production Manager

Cole Sharp

Growing up alongside his father, Cole learned the family business from the ground up. He attended Jefferson State Community College where he took horticulture courses together with computer infomation systems to enchance his knowledge of the family business.

Today, Cole is fully engaged in the day-to-day operations of DSLD from sales to installation, as well as providing technical support for the company.

Cole resides in Birmingham with his wife, Amy, and sons Milo, Jack and Thomas. His spare time is spend in the woods driving his ATV and playing soccer.

Manager

               Miles Sharp

Growing up alongside his father, Miles has learned the family business from the ground up. Since 2016, Miles has worked in the excavation/ construction side of the business. Miles is a state licensed landscape designer (LD) as well as a state licensed horticulturalist (SLP) and a has a Class A CDL license.
 Miles was recently promoted to Assistant Production Manager.
Miles is married and has a daughter and a brown lab named Murphy.

Brett Bartlett

Brett grew up in Wisconsin and is married with two great kids. He started working with his father at an early age in the pool and construction business. He went on to start his own swimming pool and tile company at the age of 20, which he ran for the last 25+ years.

He enjoys working at DSLD and is responsible for swimming pool construction. His passion is creating amazing outdoor spaces and making sure the client’s dreams come to fruition.

Noelle Howell

Noelle is a graduate of the University of Virginia. She was a naval officer and has also volunteered as a mentor for young women and as a teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL).

Noelle enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking at Oak Mountain State Park and hiking new places with her husband, Martin.

Creative Assistant

Kelly Parrish

Kelly was born and raised in Ohio and attended Miami University. She holds a degree in graphic design and closely guards the company’s logo and advertising.

Kelly is a recent transplant to beautiful Alabama with her husband, Brian, and their four children.

Procurement Manager

AshileeMarie Cummings

Hailing from the great state of Texas, AshileeMarie spent her formative years on an emu and ostrich farm. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication and Information Science at the University of Alabama. AshileeMarie puts her strong communication skills to work as DSLD’s Procurement Manager. Beyond her professional pursuits, AshileeMarie enjoys working out and is an avid dog lover who enjoys spending quality time with her two canine companions.

Aubrey Corbitt

Aubrey grew up in Florida where she attended Jacksonville University and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in environmental sustainability. Since working for DSLD, she has acquired her Landscape Design (LD) license.

Aubrey works in the accounting department where she brightens everyone’s day.

Amy Sharp

Amy joined the DSLD team as an office assistant. She loves being a part of the family owned business and lending her organizational skills to keep the business running smoothly. “I love the team mentality David has integrated into everyday office work.” she says.

Angel Sharp

Angel graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor’s of Science degree. She is married to Zach and, together, they like to spend time with their son, Barrett, and their dog, Asher.

Helen Sharp

Helen is the backbone of DSLD, keeping her husband, David, and three sons, Cole, Zach and Miles, pointed in the right direction. She has worked as a homemaker raising their three sons as well as a daughter, Danielle McKenzie. Helen has worked side-by-side with David in every facet of the company since 1994.

Today Helen enjoys helping out at the AquaScapes retail store on Highway 280.
